Living without teeth would be a horrible way to go through life. Just imagine – it would impact your ability to enjoy food and even to speak clearly. Fortunately, dentures were developed many years ago to alleviate those problems. Generally speaking, there are two types of dentures available: partial sets and full sets. Dr. Unser is pleased to provide this as one of the many services he performs for his patients from throughout the Lakewood, CO, area.
Why You Should Choose 20th Avenue Dentistry for Dentures
One of the keys to successfully wearing dentures, whether a full set or a partial set, is a proper fit. Dentures that don’t fit properly can slip, making it difficult to talk normally and chew certain foods. Dr. Unser has been providing dentures to his patients for over 30 years. He has the experience needed to make sure that your dentures fit snugly and function in much the same way as your natural teeth would.

The Process Involved in Getting Dentures
If you’re missing just a few teeth, Dr. Unser may recommend a partial set of dentures. Typically, a partial set is composed of artificial teeth connected to a wire frame. That frame is usually secured by the existing natural teeth that are located on each side of the gap where your missing teeth once were. A full set of dentures, on the other hand, includes both a top and bottom plate, and is designed for people who need to have their teeth extracted for whatever reason.
If you fall into the latter category, the first step involved in getting a new full set of dentures is having an impression made of your existing natural teeth. Dr. Unser will then send this impression to a dental lab, where your new dentures will be custom-made for your mouth. In the meantime, Dr. Unser will begin the process of extracting your teeth a few at a time, allowing for healing to take place between each round of extractions. Once your gums are healed, Dr. Unser will fit you with your new set of dentures, making sure that the fit is as exact, snug and comfortable as possible.
